DAN KATONGOLE
Dan Katongole was born in Kampala, the capital of Uganda, in 1982.
He grew up with his sister who helped him in everything starting from education to the basic needs.
He attended St. Barnabas Primary School, then joined secondary school at Muyenga High School where he attended both ordinary level and advanced level.
He joined university from 2003 to 2006 where he did a bachelors degree in business administration and majoring in finance.
At the moment he is working with a telecom company in customer relations department in a call centre.
His parents died during the civil wars in Uganda in the 1980s, so his sister who was running a charity organisation raised him under her organisation. She constructed schools which Dan attended from primary to high school.
Since his sister is a pastor, he grew up in a christain environment which helped him to know God and become a minister in her church called Kampala Evangelical Free Church. He started playing keyboard in sunday school so as he grew up and doing well, he was graduated into the main church where he plays the keyboard now.
Having grown up with different children his sister was taking care of, he got the desire and zeal to pick up from where she is at the moment. She has raised many people now who are important persons in Uganda: lawyers, doctors, teachers, managers and pastors.
Dan`s dream goes beyond Uganda to the entire world. With Light Of Hope, he wants to reach many nations and countries. He knows what it means to grow up without parents, and he knows how it feels to be poor so with this background he is very confident that he will be able to change this world!
MAWADRI PHILIP
Mawadri Philip was born in 1986 in the Adjumani District in a Dzaipi subcounty in a small village called Bari. This is in the northern part of Uganda.
He attended St. Peter's Primary School Nsambya and Kiswa Primary, then joined secondary school at Comboni Comprehensive College Adjumani, then Joined Naalya for his advanced level. He joined university in 2006 where he got a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration and majored in Accounting.
He is a born again christian, very talented as a dancer. He was in a dance group called soul touch in the University preaching the gospel through the dance perfomances.
He worked as an artist in an artist center, priniting on T-shirts, drawing logos, designing sign posts in Adjumani in th whole of my vacation and currently he is working in a Telecom company in the customer relations department in a call centre.
He has experienced what it was like in the northern part of the country which was unstable because of the rebel activities for about 20 years. There was massive killing of innocent people, massacres, rapes, houses set on fire, people having to sleep in the bush because of the fear of the rebels raiding in the night. All the domestic animals were killed, the houses robbed and school children under the age of 10 adapted as child soldiers.
All of this brought him to the conlusion that helping those in need where you can is what matters because he knows what it means to live a life of misery.
"Working with Light of Hope I would like to use this opportunity to reach out to those who think that there is no hope for them in this world and to make a difference in their lives. I want to spread love to them in all the nations and countries and I am convinced that this will lead me to make this world a better place for the needy" says Philip.
